On the Commons

On the Commons (OTC) is a commons movement strategy center. The commons consists of gifts found in nature—air, fresh water, the ocean, wilderness—and gifts that we as a society have "gifted" to one another: Social Security, farmers' markets, the Internet, bridges, scientific knowledge, libraries, etc. OTC aims to (1) build and bring visibility to the commons movement, (2) initiate and catalyze commons work, and (3) develop and encourage commons leadership. 

Indian Lake Theater

The Indian Lake Theater is a local non-profit multipurpose community center that offers a full schedule of film, theater, concerts, and other special events. BMC Co-Directors Harriet Barlow and Ben Strader, with the assistance of many residents and staff, led the mission to rescue the theater after it went out of business in 2006.

Windcall Institute

The Windcall Institute is dedicated to nurturing and developing resilient leadership among community and labor organizers engaged in the work of social justice in low-income communities and communities of color.

The Mesa Refuge

The Mesa Refuge is a writers' retreat located in Point Reyes Station, California.

Adirondack Center for Writing

The Adirondack Center for Writing (ACW) supports Adirondack-based writers and promotes literary arts in the Adirondacks.
